    How to Recover Text Messages from Android Phone


    There are two ways that I will share with you. One is to use Android Data Recovery and the other is to use Android SMS Recovery. Both of them can help you restore text messages on Android 2.3 or latter, including Android 5.0. The situation above is not the only one they can be applied to. More cases, caused by rooting failure, ROM flashing failure, deletion and other unknown reasons , have all being taken into consideration by the designers.     Android Data Recovery and Android SMS Recovery are excellent tools used for data recovery. Text message is one of the retrievable types. By the way, contacts, and call logs can also be recovered. Besides, most Android devices are supported: Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, Motorola, to name a few.

    Step 1. Have a Free Download and Connect Your Android to PC
    Make sure your phone is left with over 20% power before you connect the phone and the computer.

    Step 2. Enter Setting and Enable USB Debugging
    The processes should be different on different Android operating systems. And in case you don't know how to do it, we list them below. When it is done, press "Start".

    1)For Android 5.0 or newer: Move to "Settings" > "About Phone" to tap "Build number" seven times for "You are now a developer!" signal. Then, move to "Settings" > "Developer options" to turn on "USB debugging"
    2) For Android 4.2 to 4.4.4: Follow the steps as Android 5.0 until "You are under developer mode" appears. Then, tap "Settings" > "Developer options" > Check "USB debugging"
    3) For Android 3.0 to 4.1: Enter "Settings" > "Developer options" > Tick "USB debugging"
    4) For Android 2.3 or earlier: Follow "Settings" > "Applications" > "Development" > Tick "USB debugging"

    Step 3. Tick File Types Which You Want to Restore
    When you have done step 2, the software will ask you to choose what to scan. We can check Messaging and WhatsApp messages & attachments. And then click Next.

    Step 4. Allow the Superuser Request and Start to Scan
    If you have root the Android device, the software may prompt that Android Data Recovery should be granted authority to continue Scanning. Then, tap Allow on your phone until it does not pop up again.

    Step 5. View the Details and Restore the Ones You Select
    Messages can be preview in the interface. Highlight them and you will see the contents on the right side. Tick your lost SMS or simply all of them, and click Recover to restore lost text messages on your PC.

    Step 1. Connect Android to Computer Using USB Cable
    Download and install Android SMS Recovery. Connect your phone with a USB cable.

    Note: For the detail operation to enable USB debugging, you can check it on the Step 2 that we've mentioned in Tutorial 1. Just choose the compatible one according to your operating system.

    Step 2. Choose Text to Scan
    After enabling USB debugging, you are allowed to choose the data type and scan. As the below windows shows, click "Messages" and "Messages Attachment" if you have MMS on your Android and want the attachment in your SMS restored. And then click "Next" to allow the program to scan your Android for deleted text messages.

    Step 3. Allow Super Users Request
    After that, there will be a window saying "The software needs to get privilege to scan deleted files, please try as below:". Just click "allow" on your Android device. If it fails, please click "Retry".

    Step 4. Scan and Recover Android Deleted SMS
    Now, you've come to the last but important step. All your deleted text messages will be listed in categories. The deleted SMS will be in red color. Preview and choose whatever you want and click "Recover" on the lower right button. Within several seconds, your SMS will be retrieved and saved on your computer.
